I'm Rachael McLean, an award winning children’s book author and illustrator, living in a beautiful coastal town in Australia. I love writing stories and drawing magical pictures to bring them to life.

I’m the author and illustrator of several board books including the best selling series My Best Friend is a Unicorn and its companion My Best Friend is Dragon, two magical tales of friendship and the power of make believe.

My illustrations can be found worldwide in over 250 beautiful kid's books, as well as on greeting cards, in magazines and on surface design.

My drawings spring to life from my Huion 27inch Kamvas Pro, using a combination of Illustrator and Photoshop.

I’m inspired by bright colours and all things whimsical, I love using bold palettes and cheeky characters.

When I’m not drawing in my little studio, you can find me taking long walks on the beach with my pups and my husband, or chatting to patients in my role as a nurse.
